DS4SI DESIGN GYM

In the first session of this two-part class, participants will learn what to do to keep their shoes crisp and maintain their value. We will discuss the do’s and don'ts of sneaker cleaning and gain an understanding cleaning products. In this session, participants will deep clean their sneakers, remove creases, and start taping if time permits. In the second session, participants will do whatever applies to their shoes: 

• Repairing small scuffs and holes in leather, 
• stripping, 
• sanding, 
• paints and finishes/ color matching 
  

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:

• We will be working ONLY on leather shoes, No canvas, crocs or foamposites. Those materials require additives for the paint and extra steps to assure the paint cures and adheres properly.
• Please bring a pair of shoes other than the shoes you wear to class. After class 1 your shoes will be wet from the deep clean and will require 24 hours to dry. After class 2 shoes should not be worn for 24-48 hours to allow the finish to cure. Cure time is required to prevent chipping, cracking and peeling.
